Buying the right product is only half the battle — how you use and store it is what actually decides whether it works well and lasts. Think of this page as a quick reference for getting the most out of whatever you’ve picked up from Geocare.
Gloves & Protective Wear
Fit matters more than people think with gloves. Too loose and your grip goes; too tight and they tear before their time. Keep them somewhere cool and dry, out of direct sunlight — heat and UV exposure wear down the material faster than most people realise. And the moment a glove tears, gets punctured, or just looks off in any way, bin it. Doesn’t matter if it still seems fine on the surface.
Masks
A 3-ply mask only works if it’s worn right. Nose, mouth, chin — all covered, with the nose clip pressed against the bridge properly. These aren’t meant to be reused day after day; filtration drops off fast once a mask’s been worn a while or gets damp, so swap it out rather than stretching its life.
Patient Care & Hygiene Products
Bed bath wipes, underpads, diapers — all of this exists to keep patients comfortable, especially when mobility is limited. Underpads need changing the moment they’re soiled; skin irritation sets in quicker than people expect otherwise. Keeping a few spares around means a change never has to wait. With adult diapers, getting the fit right around the waist and thighs is really what prevents leaks and keeps things comfortable through the day.
Medical Devices — BP Monitors, Thermometers, Nebulizers, Stethoscopes
This is where good habits actually change how well the product performs.
BP Monitors — Sit still for a couple of minutes first, keep your arm level with your heart, and don’t talk mid-reading. Wipe the cuff down occasionally with a damp cloth, and keep the monitor away from heat or moisture.
Thermometers — Alcohol swab on the sensor tip, before and after each use. Once the display starts dimming or lagging, change the battery.
Nebulizers — Clean the mask and medicine cup after every single use — bacteria builds up fast otherwise — and let everything air-dry completely before you put it away.
Stethoscopes — Wipe down the earpieces and diaphragm after use. Skip leaving it in direct sun or a parked car; heat over time messes with the tubing.
The General Rule
Cool, dry, moderate temperature, away from sunlight, moisture, and dust — that’s basically the formula for making most of our products last. And if something feels wrong mid-use — a reading that doesn’t add up, a mask that won’t sit right, a device acting up — check the relevant guide above or just call us before assuming the product’s broken.
